Mauritania qualifies in another African Cup as a surprise

Mauritania took a qualification for his first big football tournament on Sunday when Botswana dropped a place in the United Nations Cup next year.

This is the second great surprise of application after Madagascar was sealed in the African Cup for the first time last month.

Mawritania, a country in northwestern Africa almost completely disappeared from the Sahara desert, after hitting Botswana 2-1 with two goals by sending Ismael Diakite on.

It means that a nation who will wait for 17 years after his first international match for his first prize will be among the best teams of the continent next June and July.

13 O 24 PLACES SUBMITTED

Mauritania is one of 13 countries now qualified for a Cup of Countries that expands 24 teams run by Cameroon. Eight of them had qualified this weekend, the final round of games, led by old Nigerian champions, Ivory Coast, Morocco and Algeria.

Nigeria is back in the tournament – for the first time since winning the title in 2013 – after taking 1-1 with South Africa in Johannesburg on Saturday. Nigeria's state governor pledged the team to $ 25,000 for each goal in the essential game but one was enough as Nigeria secured the point needed to guarantee one of the two places qualified by the group.

Ivory Coast, African champion of 2015, secured his place despite an indoor qualification campaign when 1-1 arrived in Guinea on Sunday. The result qualifies both teams. Moroccan place was confirmed after Malawi lost 2-1 in surprise in Comoros. That eliminates the Malawians and has caused the head of their federation, Walter Nyamilandu, a new member of the FIFA Council, to complain about the composition of the Comoros squad. The players are almost completely born abroad and scored the Comoros goals against Malawi by El Fardou players Ben Nabouhane and Nasser Chamed.

Nyamilandu on Twitter claimed that Comoros "buys citizenship to make a national team" and call "immoral." However, Malawi had no official protest.

Algeria has won 4-1 in Togo, with two goals from the Manchester City Riyad Mahrez. Other teams to qualify this weekend were Mali and Uganda.

HOPS LIBYA

Libya has been disrupted and war, which has twice in the last five years had to support the African Cup due to its home war, but has the opportunity to qualify. Libya has defeated Seychelles 8-1 and faces South Africa in a definite game in a qualifying final in March to see who joins Nigeria in the African Cup of that group. Although it is a "home" game for Libya, the North African have not played home for five years because of the conflicts, instead of hosting their home games in Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt. Libya needs to win while South Africa needs to attract.

MORE SURPRIS?

More beginners may join Madagascar and Mauritania next year, the first time the African Cup expands to 24 teams of normal 16. Burundi needs to draw home in his final against Gabon Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to reach the final. Lesotho, the small country that has surrounded South Africa, is also still in conflict.
