Kane Johnson – 1995 (Adelaide, Richmond)

Johnson was a two-time pre-league player with Adelaide (1997, 1998) by going to Punt Road before the 2003 season.

The clear referee came to be a key player in the Richmond ball-pigeon and he was awarded with captaincy in 2005, and the Best and Fairest Club in the following year.

He captured the Tigers until he retired in 2008, finishing his career on 220 games.

Steven Baker – 1998 (St Kilda)

Baker became one of the biggest league dealers. He started his time with St Kilda in 1999, playing 203 games over 13 terms.

Baker was attached to Luke Ball for the Trevor Barker Medal in 2005 and was part of the final Saints 2009 and 2010 teams.

Ted Richards – 2000 (Essendon, Sydney)

Originally taken by Essendon, Richards was a member of the Grand Swans Final team in his first season with the Clwb (2006), before winning a league in 2012.

This year, he was all awarded with an All-Australian selection and was second in the Bob Skilton Medal.

When he retired in 2016, Richards was considered to be one of the best defenders in the competition during his time.
