Tetrahydrocannanabinol (THC), which is a component of the responsibility for the psychoactive effects of marijuana, can give hope for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease, at least according to a study conducted in mice.1 Rodents with a disease similar to Alzheimer's have received the synthetic form of THC, which led to reduction of lost brain cells, 20 percent less sticky plaques in the brain (associated with Alzheimer's), and memory enhancement.
In fact, Alzheimer's mice receiving TGC also performed tests on memory as healthy mice, while those who received placebo lost some of their memory2. The study was presented at the Society for Neurology meeting in 2018 in San Diego, California, and has not yet been published, but it hopes that cannabis-based therapy may turn out to be therapeutic for Alzheimer's.
THC enhances memory in Alzheimer's mice
The study was interesting because he discovered that TGK – but not Cannabidiol (CBD) – would be useful for memory function and loss of neurons in Alzheimer's mice. Cannabis diool is a non-psychoactive cannabis component, which, as it was previously established, provides many benefits for relieving pain, seizures and other diseases.
Cannabinoids interact with the body through natural cannabinoid receptors embedded in cell membranes throughout the body. There are cannabinoid receptors in your brain, lungs, liver, kidneys, immune system, etc .; the therapeutic (and psychoactive) properties of marijuana arise when cannabinoid activates the cannabinoid receptor.
Your body also has natural endocannabinoids that are similar to TGCs that stimulate your cannabinoid receptors and produce various important physiological processes.
Consequently, your body is actually carbide to react to cannabinoids through this unique system of cannabinoid receptors. It is likely that both TGC and cannabidil affect the endocannabinoid system of the organism. According to the researchers: 3
It has been shown that endonangioid signals are involved in many processes, including brain development, memory formation, motor control, neuroinflammation, excitotoxicity, and oxidative stress.
In addition, several in vitro studies have shown that cannabinoids reduce Aβ [amyloid beta]- induced neurotoxicity, as well as cell death and the relief of neurogenesis. It can also be demonstrated that cannabinoids stimulate the removal of in vivo Aβ in vitro.
… Cannabinoid treatment in … mice shows the potential of the endocannabinoid system as a therapeutic target in Alzheimer's disease, which affects the molecular signature and improves memory deficits. Our findings strengthen the medicine based on cannabis, as a potential blood pressure monitor [Alzheimer’s disease] therapy ".
THC can change the aging of the brain
Researchers from the aforementioned study warned that people should not take results to mean they should be inflamed to keep their brain healthy. When healthy mice were given TGK, they really had difficulty in learning. However, previous studies in mice also found that THC would be beneficial for the health of the brain.
One such study published in Nature Medicine found that a low dose of TGC overturned the age-related decline in cognitive performance in mice at the age of 12 and 18 months.4 The dose was small enough to avoid any psychoactive effects, but strong enough to to bring back the loss of productivity in old animals (mice usually live up to 2 years).
In addition, the activity of the genes and the molecular profile in the brain tissue of the mice treated with TGCs were the same as in many younger animals. In particular, the neurons in the hippocampus developed synaptic spines – the contact points needed to communicate between the neurons.
Previous studies have also shown that the brain is much faster in mice that do not have functional receptors for TGC, suggesting that TGC can be involved in regulating the aging process5. The next logical step will be testing marijuana and its connections with people from Alzheimer's, but the political bureaucracy holds the scientific process.
According to NPR, Canyon researcher Jamie Roytman, a professor of psychology at Illinois University in Chicago, explained: "There are only places to do this." NPR continued: "Getting approval for any study involving people and marijuana related compounds is very difficult," she said, despite the fact that drugs in many countries are now legal "6
Nevertheless, cannabis therapy is the forefront of future neurology, according to researchers in the section "Integrative neurosciences," and since they work through various mechanisms, they may be useful not only for Alzheimer's, but also for Parkinson's disease, brain tumors, epilepsy and injured brain trauma. They noted: 7
"The inherent polypharmacy properties of hemp botanists offer exceptional advantages over a modern pharmaceutical model for one purpose and envisage a revolution in neurological treatment in the new reality of effective intervention and even prophylactic treatment."
What is medical marijuana?
Cannabinoid receptors play an important role in many body processes, including metabolic regulation, cravings, pain, anxiety, bone growth, and immune function. "Medical marijuana" means the use of a whole unprocessed marijuana plant or its medicinal extracts. Thanks to the traditional methods of plant breeding and seed processing, producers began to produce hemp plants with a higher level of CBD and lower TGC levels for medical use.
Since the 2018 election, as several states have approved various forms of marijuana, drug cannabis is now legal in 33 states of the United States, while recreational consumption is lawful in 10 states and Washington, DC. Most areas where medical hemp is a legal decision to use it only under certain medical conditions, while some allow only CBD butter or pills. What do people use for this? Pain and anxiety are the main applications, but there is also a potential for its use as a treatment for cancer.
For example, researchers from Harvard University have found that THC reduces tumor growth in cancerous lungs, greatly reducing its ability to spread9. Even in cases of glioblastoma, one of the most deadly cancers can be helped by cannabinoids, as they are shown to inhibit glioblastoma invasiveness and improve the survival of glioblastoma patients.10 In addition, cannabinoids have shown promise for various medical purposes, including: 11
- Multiple sclerosis
- Irritable bowel syndrome
- Huntington's Disease
- Diseases of the eye
- Chemotherapy is associated with nausea and vomiting
- Inflammatory and neuropathic pain
- Post-traumatic stress disorder
- Anxiety disorders
Interestingly, it is likely that both PM and CBD can have a beneficial role in health. One study found that the CBD can buffer some of the psychoactive effects of TGK, and these two compounds can provide greater therapeutic results when administered together, rather than separately.
If you are considering using medical marijuana and you are living in a state where it is lawful, you can get a medical advice from a cannabis and then join a team that is a group of patients who can grow and share cannabino drugs one of one by one. By registering as a member, you get the right to grow and share your medicine.
There are various ways of introducing medical marijuana, from inhalation, evaporation and smoking to sublingual (under the tongue), oral administration and topical application. The best form for you depends on your medical needs, so it's best to work with an experienced physician to determine the best way to administer and dosage.
Keep in mind that although medical marijuana may seem like a new or trendy treatment, its healing properties have been estimated for thousands of years, including traditional Chinese medicine, in India and ancient Egyptians, Persians and Greeks.

In addition to marijuana, many other natural substances can also contain properties that prevent Alzheimer's, and coffee is no exception. "Coffee consumption is associated with a reduction in the risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease (PD), but the mechanism by which coffee can provide neuroprotection in humans is not completely clear," the researchers explained.
Previously, it was suggested that caffeine in coffee might be responsible for many of its beneficial effects, but in the new study, similar beneficial effects for the brain were discovered among caffeine and cocktail varieties. The determinant factor was the type of roast, with a dark taste coming to the top.
When cooking coffee beans, it is formed with phenylindan, with higher quantities found in dark biscuits. Phenilidandan is also neuroprotective, since it prevents aggregation of amyloid-beta and tau, both of which are related to Alzheimer's. The researchers plan to further explore whether phenylindanids can penetrate the bloodstream and cross the blood-brain barrier.
Similarly to marijuana, coffee consumption is associated with a lower risk of brain tumor, such that people in the higher category of coffee consumption are 91 percent less likely to develop gliomas than those who are in the lower categories 14
In addition, it has been shown that drinking from one to two cups of coffee daily reduces the risk of Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, reducing cognitive status and cognitive impairment than drinking less than one cup.15
Best Alzheimer's Risk Reduction Tips
Alzheimer's Disease has become one of the most urgent and tragic issues of public health in the United States. Given the fact that by the year 2050, the number of people affected by the disease will triple, the Alzheimer's Association predicts that by the middle of the twentieth century someone from the United States will begin to develop Alzheimer's disease every 33 seconds. 16
Medical marijuana may one day be a useful tool for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's, but it is not yet widely available to most people. Many other strategies that fall into the root of the disease are available right now, however, as the right to increase the neurotropic factor (BDNF) derived from the brain, reducing stress, optimizing your sleep, critical for cognitive function and nutrition support.
Important nutrients are fatty omega-3s based on animals, magnesium, vitamin D, and fiber. For example, elderly people with vitamin D deficiency can increase the risk of developing dementia by 125 percent, and vitamin D deficiency is associated with a significant increase in the risk of dementia with all causes and Alzheimer's disease.17 Test your levels and maintain blood levels from 60 to 80 ng / ml whole year.
With regard to omega-3, the high consumption of OPA-3 fats by EPA and DHA helps prevent Alzheimer's cell damage, thereby slowing down progression and reducing the risk of developing this disease. Ideally, get an omega-3 index test once a year to make sure you're in the healthy range. Your omega-3 index should be above 8 percent, and your omega 6 to 3 ratio is between 0.5 and 3.0.
I also recommend a cyclic or targeted ketogenic diet that will help you optimize your health by moving from burning carbohydrates to energy to burning fat as the main source of fuel.
