The sale of electronic cigarettes is soon to be restricted in the United States

Washington – US and US authorities have decided to install draconian restrictions on the sale of electronic cigarettes to prevent the "epidemic" among youngsters that unintentionally attract this product in its flavor form.

The United States health agency (FDA) announced on Thursday that it proposed the ban on the sale of e-flavors on the internet. So, these will only be available in stores, enclosed places that can not be adapted to underage.

On the other hand, it has electronic cigarettes with mint and fental, which are popular among adults, and can be used for smoking cessation.

The agency also intends to impose a ban on the sale of cigar cigarettes and menthol, stating that "menthol serves to smoke the objective aspects of smoke that encourages a child to smoke".

Before coming into force, these proposals must be submitted to a public consultation period until June.

The number of 78% vapors in the US secondary schools rose from 2017 to 2018, and 48% in colleges, according to the latest data from a national survey.

"These figures shock my conscience"Scott Gottlieb, the head of the FDA responded in a statement."This increase (in the use) must stop. (…) I will not let a generation of children become addicted to nicotine through electronic cigarettes"he added.

Since 2016, the FDA regulates e-cigarettes, is forbidden for example to sell for underage. But facing the vertiginous increase in the number of evaporators among young Americans, he decided to break down.

Overall, 3.6 million school girls use electronic cigarettes, 1.5 million more than in 2017, said the FDA Thursday.

More than a quarter of secondary school students hit regularly (at least 20 days in the last month). And 67.8% are elastic cigarettes, rising figures suddenly, he said.

– A future generation of smokers? – –

"We will take all the necessary measures for these trends not to continue", insisting on Scott Gottlieb, highlighting the challenge: to prevent teenagers turning tomorrow's smoking tomorrow, then from incredible patients.

Nearly all adult smokers started when they were underage, he noticed it.

The cigarette is still the leading cause of illness and death that can be suspended in the United States, and it kills around 480,000 Americans every year. About 16 million Americans also suffer from tobacco-related illnesses.

Scott Gottlieb recently called "epidemic"hitting young people.

Health specialists have welcomed these proposals. "An Aroma ban, popular among teenagers, would definitely be an important step to stop the epidemic"said Patricia Folan, director of the tobacco control center, a hospital network in New York.

"It is widely acknowledged that e-cigarettes are a gateway for cigarettes for teenagers and young adultssays Len Horovitz, a lung specialist at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Although many carcinogenic products, such as tar, do not find electronic cigarettes, they include nicotine, a product that is not related to cancer but causes addiction.

The FDA had invited e-cigarettes producers earlier a few weeks ago to find a way to prevent young people from buying their products.

The Altria American tobacco group (Marlboro in the United States, Caerfield …) had led by announcing October 25th that it would best sell some of the most popular electronic cigarettes among young people.

After attacking from each side, the number of electronic cigarettes, in turn on Tuesday, announced that the prevention of its product was also the most popular young people. It will give the best to sell most of the flavor refining in the stores, specifically those targeted by the FDA.

The maker, whose products are extremely successful among young people, will also end their social networks.

The San Francisco company, like many e-cigarette producers, argues that their products target smokers of adults who want to give up smoking.

But some of these products look like a USB stick where we will insert a refill with a fluid containing nicotine and flavor with all kinds of perfumes. Attractive to young people, they have established themselves among the world's youth.

In Europe, there is a doubt about the effectiveness of these cigarettes, which is meant to help smokers to their own web. In France, the new Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris (AP-HP) has launched a national study to evaluate the effectiveness of this product compared to a drug.

On Wall Street, tobacco groups were hacked. Altria stock came down 3.08%, British Tobacco America down 3.64%.
