At the International Conference on Libya, Tsipras – Meet Konte | POLICY

Greece was first invited to an international conference on Libya. An event, as stated by sources of government, reflects its growing role as a pillar of stability and peace in the region. First Minister Alexis Tsipras is expected to emphasize that Libya's territorial integrity in dealing with international terrorism, the protection of established institutions in the protection of law and economic development in the country are priorities for Greece who work in it and through the European Union Union.

Our country, according to sources of government, will also highlight the need for cooperation with the countries of the region, such as Egypt, in the Mediterranean European multi-level policy framework on security, migration, the economy and energy. At the same time, it will face the need to address the origins of migration roots through more effective cooperation with African and Asian countries, which will have a positive impact on the security of the Mediterranean and Mediterranean; the EU. generally.

At the same time, the First Minister is expected to refer to the need to establish effective structures in Libya (in conjunction with the EU and UNHCR) to manage refugee flows and migration and increase rehabilitation sites from Libya to Europe.

On the side of the International Conference, the First Minister met a Monday with his Italian counterparts, Joseppe Conte, in Palermo, Sicily.

This was the first meeting of the two prime ministers. Both leaders have identified government sources to discuss bilateral links in the energy sector in the forthcoming period, especially in relation to TAP, East Med and Turkey / South Stream pipelines. Recently, IGI Poseidon (LNG Poseidon) jointly launched a new phase of studies on the EastMed pipeline.

At the same time, Alexis Tsipras and Giuseppe Conte discussed Italian investments in Greece, with an emphasis on the investment of Italy in TRAINOSE, while the prime minister talked about his Italian counterparts on the next steps about expanding the territorial waters of Greece, especially in the Ionaid Sea.

Mr Tsipras introduced to the end of the Italian government of the Greek positions on the control of refugee flows and migration and exchange of views, while both prime ministers also referred to developments in the Eurozone.
