Like many Singaporeians who bought Malaysian property, Mr Colin Goh wanted "take the opportunity to invest in something affordable" and earn passive income through renting homes.

But when he got the key to a two bedroom condominium unit in Medini last year, he was surprised to learn about the "very odd" market rent, he told The Sunday Times.
