Cape Town – Springbok mainly Faf by Klerk is available for a Saturday Test against Wales in Cardiff but will not be likely to be used.
This was disclosed by Springbok coach, Rassie Erasmus, at a press conference in Cardiff on Monday.
"Faf is available this weekend, but we probably will not use it. Faf is definitely a competitor to go to the World Cup next year, but in the same breath we do not have it. The luxury from Test 15 to 20 games before the World Cup. We have five, including this one, "said Erasmus. quoted by Netwerk24.
This means Paper Embryo is likely to keep her role as a start, with Ivan van Zyl on the bench. Louis Schreuder is the other part in the cohort.
De Klerk missed a failure last weekend against Scotland in Edinburgh after the Boks chose to release his English language club, Sale Sharks.
"The way we've been trying to build momentum and get the winning feeling back, we had to rely on Faf, but we feel that the young boys in the squad are ready to take the step up and show what they can do, as Embrose did last week and Ivan did against England, "added Erasmus.
Bok mentor said there was no issue regarding the availability of South Klerk.
"Regulation nine is quite clear that we can draft people (who are abroad) on Sunday before a Test game. We have a very good relationship with most of the" .
Erasmus will name his team on Thursday, with a Saturday Test arranged for 19:20 (SA time).
