Curiosity turns on the move again | Space

Mars Curiosity rover is driving and sustaining science after experiencing memory inconsistency in September. The rush drove about 197 feet (60 meters) over the last weekend to a site called Lake Orcadie, pushing its total odometer to over 12 miles (20km). This was the longest Curiosity campaign since memory inconsistency was experienced on September 15, 2018. The spell moved to a spare computer, called the Side-A computer, on October 3.

As with many space ships, curiosity was designed with two unpaid PCs – in this case, referred to as an Side-A and Computer side-side computer – so that it can continue to operate if one is experiencing a glitch. After reviewing a number of options, JPL engineers recommended that the change turned from Side B to Side A

An asthma engineering team at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory continues to diagnose anomaly on PC Side PC. The curiosity of the Side A computer used to land on Mars in August 2012. AA's experienced hardware and software issues over five years ago , NASA said, leaving the grip disabling and running down his battery. At that time, the team successfully withdrew to Side B. Engineers have since diagnosed and suspected the side of memory of Side A that has been affected so that the computer is yet available to support the mission. Steven Lee or JPL is the proxy Curiosity project manager. Lee said in a statement:

At this point, we are confident that we will go back to full operations, but it's too early to say how soon. We're acting on Side A starting today, but it could take time for us to understand all the root of the issue in full and devise exercises for memory on Side B.

We spent last week looking at Side A and preparing it for the exchange. Surely it is possible to run the mission on the Side-A computer if we really need us. But our plan is to switch back to Side B as soon as we can solve the problem to use its larger memory size.

The lowest line: NASA's Curiosity Mars racing has made her drive long since it has been inconsistent on September 15, 2018.
