The juiciest rumors and leaks about the Samsung Galaxy S21: everything we know today

Galaxy S21 is already on its way, as Samsung has sent out invitations to it Unpacked event at 7 a.m. Pacific Time (10 a.m. Pacific Time) on January 14, after months of rumors and speculation. Here’s how to follow the Galaxy Unpacked event live. You can even register for pre-order right now S21. In 2020, the company released a number of phones that fit almost every budget, from the Galaxy A01 for $ 100 to the Galaxy Z Fold for $ 2,999. But the Galaxy S phones are seen as the company’s flagship phones, and in 2020 launch Galaxy S20 line and more affordable Galaxy S20 FE. Leaks point to The S21 has a new design with improved camera features, including 10x optical zoom. That’s all we know today about the Galaxy S21 phones.

3 Galaxy S21 phones with the same processor

Not surprisingly, Samsung plans to release three different S21 models: the 6.2-inch S21, the 6.7-inch S21 Plus and the 6.8-inch S21 Ultra. But the big leak from Max Weinbach of Android Police apparently documents almost the entire spec sheet, which reveals even more about these three phones than just model names and sizes.

The screens are likely to support 120 Hz, like the previous S20 series, and the S21 Ultra is equipped with a WQHD Plus display with the highest resolution. But another key finding is that these phones are likely to use the latest Snapdragon processor in the US. Formerly known as the Snapdragon 875, it was actually recorded as the Snapdragon 888, which was announced at Qualcomm’s virtual event in December. One of the key requirements of the new chip is faster 5G performance and extended battery life.

Other major differences between the S21 phones are the design of the camera modules, color options, material handling and, of course, battery capacity. The base S21 will have a 4000 mAh battery, the S21 Plus battery will be 4800 mAh, and the highest class S21 Ultra will receive a mammoth battery of 5000 mAh, according to the information description. At the moment, it seems as if the S21 and S21 Plus will be plastic, and the S21 Ultra will get a metal finish.

The visualizations demonstrate a refined new camera and frame design

Earlier renderings, published by Steve Hemmerstoffer (@OnLeaks), indicate that the Galaxy S21 will not be radically different from previous S20 phones, but it will have a redesigned camera module. It seems that the screen will have a fingerprint reader and a selfie camera with a hole punch, as before, on all three phones: the screens on the S21 and S21 Plus sit straight, and the screen S21 Ultra curves at the edges. More teasers for Galaxy S21 have hit the Internet in early December, it showed a purple color with a hearth camera and a small frame on the front of the device and a rear installation for three cameras.

The matrix with three cameras on the S21 and S21 Plus has been moved to the upper left corner, and it is safe to assume that it will be a normal wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto camera. This visualization meets the well-known specification from Android Police, which states that it will be a 12-megapixel ultra-wide and wide camera, as well as a 64-megapixel telephoto camera. The LED flash is moved to the right of the camera body.

The Galaxy S21 Ultra is slightly different, with a much larger camera module with four rear cameras: 12-megapixel wide and ultra-wide, as well as two 10-megapixel telephoto cameras with 3x and 10x optical zoom. It also seems as if the 100x space zoom seen on the S20 Ultra will also be on the S21 Ultra. Space scaling is Samsung’s term for hybrid digital and optical zoom, which is used to achieve 100x magnification.

The S21 Ultra’s main camera appears to have a 108-megapixel sensor, dubbed the “2nd generation sensor” on the specs. We assume that he will use something similar pixel binding a way to output 12-megapixel images, as do the S20 Ultra and Note 20 Ultra with their 108-megapixel sensors. The S21 Ultra also aims to retain the laser autofocus system found on the Note 20 Ultra, as opposed to the phase-detection autofocus system on the S20 Ultra.

Evan Blass shared on Twitter the following infographic, which details the resolution and performance of the S21 series cameras, which seems to confirm previous leaks.

Although @OnLeaks renders also show the S21 series in both gray and black, other colors are expected. S21 has the appearance of purple, pink, gray or white; S21 Plus in silver, black and purple; and S21 Ultra in black and silver. The video in the video below from the Italian site Pigtou shows what a silver finish can look like.

Twitter user glacial universe posted an image showing concept renderings of other S21 colors, and then an image posted on Instagram, which they believe is the front of the S21 Ultra.

YouTube user Sakitech posted a video below claiming to show a photo of both the S21 Ultra and the S21 Plus. It describes in detail the characteristics of the camera and gives an overview of what a sample of pre-production work may look like. The Dutch site LetsGoDigital also posted detailed 3D renderings of the Galaxy S21 series, which show how the SIM card tray is moved to the base of the phone.

Will the Galaxy S21 have accessories in the box?

Samsung can follow Apple wire in removing the charger and wired headphones from the Galaxy S21 box, according to a previous report. This isn’t the first time Samsung has taken the headphones out of the retail box, as the $ 1,999 Galaxy Z Fold 2 comes without headphones in the US (although you can order a pair of AKG headphones from Samsung after purchase).

Goodbye Galaxy Note, hello stylus for S21?

A Reuters report says that Samsung may stop producing the Galaxy Note line, and the S21 Ultra will take its place as a Samsung phone with a stylus. Although the renderings do not show the visible space for the stylus, the phone can still support the S Pen by updating the software. This would mean that the stylus should be separate from the phone when not in use.

In a blog post, Samsung TM Roh also confirms that there will be a synergy between the Note and other Samsung phones. “We’ve also taken a look at favorite aspects of the Galaxy Note’s experience and are excited to add some of its favorite features to other devices in our lineup.”

Image from WinFuture show the case for the S21 Ultra, which has a special slot for the S Pen when not in use, apparently confirming rumors that the S Pen will have nowhere to store in the phone itself, as can be done on the Galaxy Note line.

The new Galaxy S21 Ultra case will have storage space for the S Pen.

Old wearables may be incompatible with S21

Samsung has released many different fitness trackers and smartwatches over the past few years, but a message in the Samsung Members app, spotted by GalaxyClub, indicates that the Galaxy S21 will not support older wearable devices such as the Galaxy Gear. The full list of affected devices includes Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear S and Gear Fit. This news is not particularly surprising, given that some of these trackers were released more than five years ago.

One 3.1 user interface can debut on the S21

Another video that appeared on Droid Life shows the new Samsung One UI 3.1, which is supposed to be launched with the S21. As an update for the current One UI 3.0, which currently runs on many new Samsung phones running Android 11, the new update targets features such as background video calls, Google search bar on the home screen, and camera interface settings.

The S21 may be cheaper than the S20

There is also the possibility that Samsung will lower the base price for the Galaxy S21, possibly in response to falling mobile phone sales due to the coronavirus pandemic. South Korean source Landsk claims that the S21 will start at $ 899, the S21 Plus – $ 1,099, and the S21 Ultra – $ 1,250. This would mean a price reduction of $ 100 compared to the starting price of the regular S20 in March 2020.
